Village On a Hill

Built by the Castellane family, this château dating back to the X th century was altered and embellished during the XVII th and the XVIII th centuries by the Forbin d'Oppéde family. One of its latest owners was the Diocese of Aix. It is now the largest private property in Provence with 3000m2 (approx 27,000 sq ft) of habitable space and 100 main rooms, surrounded by 16 hectares of fully fenced grounds, planted with 400 rare species. Includes a swimming pool, unspoiled view of the Alps, the Ventoux and the Luberon to the north and to the south of Sainte Victoire, Sainte Beaume and Loube with the Maures range in the distance. 20 minutes by helicopter to St Tropez and 20 minutes by car to Aix en Provenence. An exceptional property. Priceless. It is hard to estimate what these types of properties are worth but as an example a property of lesser size, without the prestige and similar condition was recently sold in the region west of Aix for 9 million.

Because of the properties' status as having been declared a national historic monument, repairs and improvements can receive a special subsidy from the state of around 50%.

The Property requires an additional $2,000,000.00 (or $1 million with subsidy) in repairs and improvements.
